PPL STUDY MATERIAL
The CAA has issued a list of recommended study material for the theoretical exams for fixed wing and helicopter private pilot's licenses. The list has been considerably shortened when compared to the original list supplied at the time that the on-line PPL exams were started. The list can be found at:

2. RAASA ISSUING ATHORITY TO FLY's
There are still a number of NTCA owners who are attempting to obtain the Renewals of Authority to Fly's at the CAA offices. These documents are now issued by RAASA. See the RAASA website www.raasa.co.za

3. AIRSPACE RESTRICTIONS - CONFEDERATIONS CUP
The CAA has issued AIP Supplement S028/09 that covers the airspace restrictions during the Confederations Cup. This document has been placed on the AWSA website.

A number of briefing sessions will be held at various airfields. These General Aviation briefing sessions will cover the nature of the restrictions and the actions that pilots need to take if they want to fly in the restricted areas. The briefings will be held as follows:
Tuesday 2 June 09h00 at Grand Central Airport
Tuesday 2 June 11h00 at Wonderboom Airport
Wednesday 3 June 09h00 at Lanseria Airport
Wednesday 3 June 11h00 at Rand Airport
Wednesday 3 June 18h00 at New Tempe Airport – Bloemfontein

4. PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE JOHANNESBURG SPECIAL RULES AREA
Due to the congestion of radio frequencies in the area below the Johannesburg TMA a proposal to split the area into three sectors has been published for comment. The proposal can be found on the Aero Club of South Africa website in text and map format. Comments can be sent to Neil de Lange at the Aero Club.
